It was not about bestseller lists or book sales when I sat down to write The Science of Shadowboxing Philosophies. It was all about one’s survival, mission, and deep truths I discovered through boxing, particularly during some of the darkest chapters of my life when this idea was germinating in a cell measuring 6×8 inches.
With no ring, partner for sparring, or gym in sight, I turned inward. Shadowboxing became my therapy, my training ground, and my mirror. It showed me how the mind leads, and the body follows.
I realized this “imaginary fight” wasn’t imagined at all-it was real time, who and what I had become, reflected everything that I was, what I believed, and what I feared. I wanted to write something for the fighters, most of for such people’s lives are often riddled with blood and bruises, their visions obscured, and the minds in which they hear the thoughts are deaf to others.

Most people see shadowboxing as warm-up work or something you do in between rounds. But in reality, it’s one of the most philosophical and revealing aspects of the fight game.

Shadowboxing allows you to mentally visualize attacks and create automatic responses, all without getting touched.
